our first family holiday: part one

This year we packed up the car with everything but the kitchen sink and headed off on our holiday. It was our first holiday as a family an when I got in the car to drive off I got all choked up and sentimental. It was a much needed break for us all and a real blessing to be able to go and do all the things we love.
We stayed in Wateron for three days, Banff for 3 days and then Calgary for 1 day. It was a long week but we packed in as much fun and relaxing as possible. Here are photos from the start of our holiday.

All packed in & ready to go. Waterton here we come!

First stop: Pete's Drive In in Calgary for root beer milkshakes.
Anna was a big fan!

Driving through downtown Calgary on out way to Jelly Modern Doughnuts.

The most fabulous donut experience!
I love doughnuts and when I heard about this place I knew it would
be one of our first stops! I was not disappointed. You can check them out here.

from top left to bottom right: Coconut, Maple Bacon, Peanut Butter Cup & Smores.
YUMM!

Welcome to Waterton, have a beverage.

After dinner we got ice cream and walked down to the lake, it is beautiful there!
Anna & Cory were in rock heaven!

Looking for heart shaped rocks, I have been collecting these for 6 years
from all the places that Cory & I visit.

My beautiful girl.

Cory's girls.

Love.

So strong! Anna had so much fun throwing rocks into the water!

Relaxing by the water after a long day in the car.

Waterton is truly one of my favorite places,
it is beautiful and so very peaceful!

I haven't been to Waterton in over 10 years...maybe it's about time to head back!
