Pouring Rain, A Party, Father's Day & A Surprise

If you are from around here, that being Edmonton, then you too are soggy and rained in! It has been raining for days, and not scattered showers, I mean pouring! My garden loves it, my tomatoes haven't looked this good since I planted them. My petunias unfortunately have drowned and my one single peony looks a little drab. A positive spin on the rain- the smell & the sound! I love laying in bed with the window open and listening to the rain and if I'm lucky a little thunder rumble.

We had a busy weekend over here, Cory left on Friday for a fishing trip (which as you can imagine got rained out) so it was just us girls. We had a very fabulous surprise in store for Cory and as soon as his truck pulled away we got busy. Cory loves to fly fish, he loves it like I love scrapbooking/painting/creating. He collects like I do and wanders Bass Pro & Wholesale Sports like I wander scrapbooking stores & Deserras. He has a little spot in the basement where he keeps all his stuff and ties his own flies but it was in serious need of a makeover and storage solutions. So Anna and I made a trip to Ikea and made a little magic happen down there for a Father's Day surprise.
I was so freakin excited when I was done! I bought storage boxes, seating, I recycled baby food jars, spray painted the lids and added labels for hook storage, I added a shelf & a rod, I painted an existing shelf and I sewed a new curtain! Yup, I sewed my first curtain with a bottom detail and everything! I could have hugged myself! :)
Here is the before & after!

On Saturday we headed to a very special 1st birthday! This is Anna with Arabelle's grandma Leona, she loves a party! It makes me so excited to plan Anna's party, I'm getting quite a few fabulous ideas for it on Pinterest!

Here is Cory with his baby girl on Father's Day. We had a day full of laying on the couch, watching movies, reading magazines, keeping Anna from climbing up everything and eating! Cinnamon french toast with whipping cream and berries for breakfast, gourmet grilled cheese and spring greens for lunch and lasagna & garlic bread (with a lovely bottle of red) for dinner. It was lovely!
He is the best daddy a girl could ask for. xoxo

I'll be back later this week with my next class demos. Until then, have a super Monday and keep dry.
