Creative Space

After finding myself completely uninspired by my work space I decided to rearrange and redecorate. I don"t have a before picture but trust me it was drab! I now love coming down here and I really do get more done. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so set a budget of $100 for new finds then  used pieces I had around the house or in storage.
Here's what I did end up buying:
-I already had two shelves from Ikea (on right of photo) that needed to be painted so I went to Home Depot for paint. I checked the mis-tints and lucky me they had a gallon of white for $9!!! I love when stuff works out that way.
-I had metal bins that were red that are now sprayed a beautiful bright green- $6 for spray paint.
-I bought 3 large black storage boxes for $5 each on clearance at Superstore
- the 2 green storage boxes from Ikea for $10
- I got the desk lamp for $15 on clearance from Ikea
-my biggest purchase was the green rug from Ikea for $50.

I found all sorts of treasures around the house:
-I had 12 storage boxes that I was using else where and moved them into here
- I used jars that where in storage to hold various elements like ribbon, buttons and stamps.
-I took plant pots and filled them half way with popcorn kernels to hold my paint brushes and my watercolors.
-I had metal baskets that I moved into the space & fruit baskets to hang for storage.
-I fell in love when I saw the curtain rod used to hang favorite layouts in Vicki Boutin's room featured in February's Scrapbooks Etc. I had to have one of my own and I just happened to have that very rod in storage.
-I also labeled all my boxes so there is no more guess work and it is wonderful!

This is a doll that Kara & her Mom made for Anna... for now it looks fabulous in my space.

Your space turned out FAB-U-LOUS! That green rug was a stroke of genius...pulls everything together!

One of these days I'll get to my things with my own space and hope it turns out as cute as yours...right now I share it with the family as our family computer is in the same room...so lots of extraneous stuff seems to walk through;)

this is so gorgeous! you would never guess it was a basement room!

my first step is cleaning my entire room, and purging a lot of junk...so I have a long way to go before I can start thinking of pretty things! I will definitely take a page from your book when i do!
