Embracing the 8.5 x 11- Lisa would be so proud!

Here is Cory's boo boo... while going down the ice slide his mat came out from under him turning him sideways. He put his leg down, came around a corner and clipped his knee on the ice. He must have hit the only jagged piece of ice on the slide cuz it ripped open his jeans and then his knee.... I almost threw up... and to think I thought about going into nursing!

Sharing Inspiration #1

MK photo box- so easy and super fast to complete! They make the perfect gift! If you have pictures that are all from different events and want to color coordinate everything: print your pictures off in black and white!

The Ice Festival.... and the accident!

Cory and I went to see the ice sculptures just north of Whyte Ave. I was in awe at how amazing some of them were! This was the ice maze- super neat!
This ice slide was wicked! There I am squealing as I flew down the slide. I felt so alive on this thing- it felt like I was going 100km/hr! Then I told Cory he totally had to go.... which led to an accident and a visit to the first aid van!!!!
Ice Castle- also rad!
Poor Cory! Yup that is a very large chunk of knee missing.... sick! I have to tell you though, thank God it wasn't life threatening because I had to tell the first aid guy what to do! That's a story for another day!

All in all we had a fantastic day!

Another Challenge

I have now entered 3 challenges, this may seem funny to a few of you who enter all the time, but it's kind of a big deal. My latest was the Goodie Box challenge #8- Resolutions. Here's my layout- I freakin' love it! That's not even the most exciting part of this- I figured out how to scan images into my computer (I do understand that this is not new to the rest of you) and then email or print them. I am pretty pumped right now!!! A little back ground: my printer sucks- would never work! Today I switched the USB cable and ta-da- working just fine..... if only I'd known that months ago I would have saved myself a few temper tantrums!

Who likes a bad speller? Nobody!

So Cory very lovingly pointed out to me that I have spelt "challenge" wrong, not once but 3 TIMES. What's up with spell check? Just thought I'd out myself!

Long post and potentially boring....

Do you ever feel like your scrapbooking room got the better of you? I went in there all gung-ho about getting some layouts done and I left feeling defeated! And that feeling seems to be hanging out with me for the night! So let's talk about something else.... last Friday I went to see a Naturopath- uses natural supplements to "heal". I have been "sick" for a long time, years in fact, but the worst has been the last year. What do I mean by "sick": headaches, stomach pains which lead to throwing up, lethargic, moody (not your average moody), the list goes on but I might depress you- that or you'll be worried about me. I have been for every test I can think of, I have had more scans and ultrasounds in the last year than I knew I had organs (only slightly exaggerated). I have tried pill after pill and new diet upon new diet! It's been exhausting so I tried something different. I went to see Dr. Mageau praying she'd have some sort of answer. I had to fill out a questionnaire (what felt like 1 million questions) and that was scored telling them I had certain deficiencies in certain areas. I also did other actual tests, all the responses pointed to problems with my thyroid and with my liver. She put me on 5 supplements, protein shakes and the eating for your blood type diet. I have a 6th supplement to go on but have yet to go get it- they are not cheap and they are not covered by my health care plan! How do I feel? Better- not everything I hoped it would be though but it's only been a week! I had started the Eating for your blood type at the beginning of December before I had met with her. Lots of changes but I was amazed at the differences in how I felt and acted. The gist of the book is that certain blood types can break down and digest certain things better than others. It gives lists of foods that are beneficial, neutral and foods to avoid. On day one I cut out bananas, which I ate everyday but the book says to avoid and for the first time in months I did not get sick! I was sold! I have been following it since and I sure notice a difference if I stray! So if you're feeling overall like you've been hit by a truck, have problems losing weight or have digestion problems I highly recommend this book.
I picked it up at Chapters but I have seen it in grocery stores. There is also lots on the web. If you don't know your blood type I'm sure your doctor would have it in your file. Or if you have any questions let me know- maybe I can help.

A few layouts to share...

My challange for Lisa:
Just thought I'd share a peek into my scrapbooking room.... or half a room after Cory moved in.

So far the weekend has treated me well, I spent the day with Veronica scrapping @ TM. Also got to see Lisa, Juli and Naomi- always a treat! Above are the pages I finished- including my first ever challange layout for Lisa's blog. Another challange I overcame was the idea of scrapping 8.5 x 11! Whew, you woudn't think it's that stressful but it is when you never do it! Slowly but surely! I also eneded up getting tickets for Bridal Fantasy and decided to go. I had originally planned on going with my maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids but after Bridal Fair I figured I didn't need to go. Last minute, plans changed and I took Cory, good thing too cuz there were a few things I showed him that he didn't like. We also chose and booked a DJ- one thing else to check off my to do list! Yeah! This is short as I'm off to work on my layout for TM's challage then perhaps The Goodie Boxes.... I'll be all challanged out!

My Private Book Club

If you're looking for a GREAT book... pick up this little gem! I started this book and can not put it down! I "sneak" read it at work and get a little snappy if Cory tries to talk to me when I'm reading at home! Sorry people I must know what happens next....
A little history about me... I love books, fiction, non-fiction, you name it, I love it. The only thing is that I seem to be more of a collector than an actual reader. I have the attention span of a gnat so if a book doesn't grab me right away I have a hard time reading it. A result of this is that I am often reading 3-4 books at one time, sometimes never finishing the book.... sigh! So I decided I really wanted to join a book club but feared the commitment to monthly- even weekly meetings. Then I discovered "The Reading Room" at http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com. Every month is a new book, books I might not chose to read and there is no pressure. So I signed up for this FREE class, you can go to the message board and read others thoughts and opinions and express your own... again, no pressure! So that's my plug for this book- it's well written and makes you feel like you're inside the character's pockets, watching everything from the front row. It also gives an insight into another culture and all the hardships that these people face, it makes you even more grateful for the world we live in with all our liberties and freedoms! Pick it up and enjoy!

My anniversary project for Cory

Wanted to share my "year in review" with you. I took a picture from everything Cory and I did together over the last year and made him (us) a mini album. The container thingy is from CI (I found it at the LSS in Stettler) and the pages are all 3.5 x 5. This was super easy and so much fun to look back, we had a pretty terrific 2007!!!

The Dress

My mom came to stay with Cory and I for the weekend so that her and I could go to Bridal Fair at the Shaw. Tons of booths to visit, so many ideas it was a little overwhelming! Just when you think you have something figured out you get shown a new idea! sigh! But the most exciting part of Bridal Fair was buying my WEDDING DRESS!!!! Yeah! They have bridal shops that sell dresses there and these dresses are usually last years designs which means... discounts! I found a couple and decided to try them on, while I was in line to get a fitting room mom told me to go look for more. I only found one that I liked and that was in my size. When I got back they called my name and I went in with my 3 dresses. I tried on the one I chose last, first. I fell in love- it fit perfectly, it looked beautiful and I wanted to squeal! I then tried on the other 2 with not so much as a spark of excitement. So on went the first dress, oh and did I mention the veil! Who needs a dress when the veil makes you look like a fairytale princess? I was sold! Love it! Love it! Love it! I am so excited! Mom took the dress back to Stettler so I wouldn't try it on 100 times! hee hee. I want to show Cory so bad, I never keep anything from him so this is fairly weird! I am so pumped right now I can barely sit still!!!!

Girls Night Out- The Goodie Box

Veronica and I have registered for "Girls Night Out" on March 15. This is an event put on by two local and very talented scrapbookers. We will get to crop and take workshops by Janet Hopkins (Heidi Swapp) and Talia and Kim (the girls putting on the event). We are super excited! Check it out... http://thegoodiebox.blogspot.com/

Blue Rodeo- Awesome! They put on a fantastic show! I went to see these guys on July 19, 1996 (I keep all my tickets) and paid $9.50 and $1.50 for a service charge.... fast forward to January 8, 2008 and a ticket to see them cost $37.50 and $12.15 for service charge. It's great to know that it was worth every penny!

I thought I'd share a picture of the girls at our Christmas crop at TM and then I'm off to bed.

Nighty Night!!

New Years Eve

I am not big on going out for New Years Eve, haven't been in a long time. Does this mean I'm getting old? Perhaps... but I was safe, warm and I did not wake up with a headache! Cory and I spent the night staining our kitchen table, cooking delicious Thai food, watching Shrek 2 and then watching the fireworks out our living room window- they were pretty great! We actually made it to midnight (last year we fell asleep at 9:30), big pat on our backs! Here are a few pics of our night...

The finished table! I am in love with it!!!!!

Yummy!!!

Happy New Year! Happy New Blog!

I decided that I too wanted a blog, not because I think people should read about me but because I spend so much time reading everyone elses that in a small fraction of that time I could actually be recording my own activities and adventures. Lord knows I am terrible at writing in my journal, so this blog is my attempt in 2008 to capture my where abouts and share my scrap booking with my girls.
This is me and my red wine completly focused on my "catching up" on everyone's lives... thank you Cory for taking random photos of me as I "stalk" people's blogs. (check out the totally wicked skull scarf he bought me for Christmas)
